By Chuck Hess

I needed to replace tires on a Y20 snowflake. I sort of wanted to crown on Don's Oliver 102 pattern miller again but we had a mandrel issue. The Y20 shafts are 25mm.....so in the spirit of getting the job done today I decided the Oliver 34 Disk sander was going to get the call. My son turned a beech dowel for me 1" dia at the bottom, and 25mm at the top.

As a side note about the tire mounting; yesterday I got all the tires and stuff out to do the job and after cleaning the rims, I got tied up on the phone. When I came back the boys already had one of the tires mounted and were preparing the other! Not bad for a pair of 13 year olds!

Anyway, back at the crowning jig;
