I needed to replace tires on a Y20 snowflake. I sort of wanted to crown on Don's Oliver 102 pattern miller again but we had a mandrel issue. The Y20 shafts are 25mm.....so in the spirit of getting the job done today I decided the Oliver 34 Disk sander was going to get the call. My son turned a beech dowel for me 1" dia at the bottom, and 25mm at the top.

As a side note about the tire mounting; yesterday I got all the tires and stuff out to do the job and after cleaning the rims, I got tied up on the phone. When I came back the boys already had one of the tires mounted and were preparing the other! Not bad for a pair of 13 year olds!

Anyway, back at the crowning jig;

That 30

That 30" sanding disk makes a 20" bandsaw wheel look pretty small.

the 60 grit paper seemed ideal for this; fast and smooth!

The bone pile coughed up that slightly too large handle for the table in and out crank, but it worked great.

This worked really fast and sweet! This attempt has been my personal favorite of all my bandsaw tire crowning episodes. Really, really nice!
