Atlas paint color
I am restoring an Atlas 6001 jointer, approximately from 1960 or so. It is grey-ish. I brought a clean piece to my local Sherwin Williams, and here's the forumla they came up with:
Base: Industrial Enamel Ultra Deep Base 1 Gallon B54T104
BAC | Blend-a-Color | OZ | 32 | 64 | 128 |
---|
W1 | White | 4 | 20 | - | - |
B1 | Black | 2 | 18 | - | - |
G2 | New Green | - | 8 | 1 | - |
N1 | Raw Umber | 2 | 5 | - | 1 |
Y3 | Deep Gold | - | 11 | 1 | 1 |
Looks like a pretty good match. I have not used it yet, but on the sample piece I brought in, they painted a small part and I had a hard time trying to find where the new paint was.
Contributor Don Hayes reports an early 1950s new-old-stock Atlas shaper that had some pristine paint that was color-matched. The result was close but not exact. For one quart of Sherwin-Williams All Surface Enamel Oil Base Gloss paint, the numbers are
